Going dancing

Saturday, April 26th, 2008

Saturday night is going out night!  Tonight my group of friends and I are going out to dinner and then to a local night club, hoping to do some dancing.  Planning on going to a Japanese Steak house restaurant - we really enjoy watching the show of the chef juggling the food and the knives.  Very entertaining!  We are hoping to meet up with some guy friends at the night club later and maybe dance a few sets with them before we call it a night.  I can’t stay out too late tonight, I have to work today AND I have to work tomorrow so I have to be careful not to over-do it and get too tired or I won’t be worth a hoot at work!

My younger sister’s 18th birthday

Sunday, April 20th, 2008

My younger sister turned 18 yesterday, and for her birthday present she asked if she could come spend the weekend with me in the city.  I have the weekend off of work, so I told her that she could come on over and stay the weekend.  My apartment is so small, however, that I don’t have a separate guest bedroom, so she had to sleep on the sofa.  She ended up arriving yesterday afternoon, so we went out to eat dinner and caught a show before coming home.  I’m waiting for her to wake up now, and when she does I’ll be taking her out to eat breakfast and then we’re going to hit some museums and see the sites.

My friends want me to get a pet

Monday, April 14th, 2008

My friends have all been pressuring me to get a pet.  I don’t WANT a pet.  Don’t get me wrong; I LOVE animals, but I don’t want the responsibility of taking care of another living creature right now!  First of all, my landlord forbids all pets except fish, and I really don’t want fish.  I’ve had fish before and changing the aquarium water is a chore that I simply hated when I had fish.  And the stupid fish that I had kept jumping out of the tank!  I’d find those things six feet away on the floor, all dried up!  Even though the tank had a lid on it, they would find the little tiny holes that the air hoses go through and escape!

And it is a pain in the neck making sure the water is the perfect PH and the perfect temperature, and to be careful to not overfeed them.

And, when you have pets, you can’t just pick up and leave to go on vacation whenever you want to go on vacation - you have to find someone to care for them.  For now I want to be footloose and fancy free and not worry about anyone or anything but ME!

Just got back from DisneyWorld

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

A few of my friends and I just got back from a vacation at DisneyWorld.  We flew down and took a shuttle from the airport to the condo that we were renting, and then used the condo’s courtesy shuttle to go from the condo to DisneyWorld and back again.  There were lots of restaurants within walking distance of the condo so we never had to rent a car.

What a great trip that was!  I loved walking around and people watching more than anything else; that is something that I seem to enjoy doing a lot.

I think that the Haunted Mansion was my favorite attraction at the Magic Kingdom.  And at Epcot Center I really liked the boat ride through “The Land” where you ride a boat through some greenhouses and listen to them talk about new ways to grow food.  I thought that was very interesting!  And at MGM I think my favorite attraction was the Backstage tour.  But I really enjoyed watching the parades, and all of the streetside performances.  So much fun!  I would LOVE to live down there and work at DisneyWorld!  Maybe I’ll apply for a job there and IF I get it then I’d move.

Hello world!

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

Hello cyberworld!  My friends have suggested that I might want to start a blog as a way to let the world know what I think.  I don’t think that the world CARES what I think, but this is a good way for my friends who have moved away to keep an eye and ear out for what I’ve been up to and what I’m thinking and feeling.  They started it!  So don’t be mad at me if you’re bored, you can stop reading anytime you want to!

I’ll be using this blog to comment on the news that I hear, and to voice opinions on just about every issue that passes my mind.
